Graduate Admissions

Graduate study in our department is open to students with undergraduate preparation in biological, chemical, physical, earth, or engineering sciences. Students with other backgrounds can be accepted into the program, with course deficiencies noted.

  • All applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 grade scale.
  • International students must have a TOEFL score of at least 550 (paper-based) or 80 (Internet-based). TOEFL test scores are valid for two years from the test date. (TOEFL Institution Code: 4832).
  • We do not require the GRE.

You must fulfill both the Graduate College and our departmental requirements (Admission Requirements) and submit your application through the Graduate School. Acceptance into our department is granted to a student based on the availability of a faculty member to supervise a student. We strongly recommend you reach out to faculty before your application.
