Arid and semi-arid lands, such as those in Arizona, occupy more than 40% of the Earth’s land surface. These landscapes contain forests, grasslands, agricultural, and built environments that may be affected by increased temperature and prolonged drought.

Our faculty are experts in:

  • dust production and human exposures
  • energy balance and soil/ecosystem response 
  • drought resiliency planning 
  • regional meteorology and climatology
