Dr. Ian Pepper Scholarship Fund

When Ian Pepper arrived in the U.S. in 1970, he hopped on a Greyhound Bus to The Ohio State University to start his graduate work in soil microbiology with only $50 in his pocket. Luckily, a generous loan from a faculty member held him over until his Fellowship kicked in, which Ian says he is extremely grateful for now as an internationally-renowned researcher.

Dr. Pepper is a UArizona faculty member of over 40 years and is distinguished as a Regents Professor in the Environmental Science department. In 2018, he decided to return the favor he once received by creating a scholarship fund for the department's brightest students who are in financial need. You can meet the past recipients here.

Your support of the Dr. Ian Pepper Scholarship makes an environmental science undergraduate education more accessible by helping us recruit and retain our highest achieving students with financial needs.
