Congratulations to Spring 2020 Outstanding Graduate Thesis and Dissertation Awardees

Each year, we recognize two graduating students, one Master's and Ph.D., who have produced a thesis or dissertation that has high quality research and broad impacts. This year the Outstanding Thesis is awarded to Joy Custer researching cultivation of soil microbes, and the Outstanding Dissertation is awarded to Bryan Moravec studying critical earth zone processes.

Active Disinfectants Could Provide Defense Against Viruses

May 15, 2020

To slow or prevent the transmission of viruses, such as the novel coronavirus, continuously active disinfectants could provide a new line of defense, according to a recent University of Arizona study released on the health sciences preprint server MedRxiv by faculty Luisa Ikner and Charles Gerba.

CALS Alumna Kelly Reynolds Develops COVID-19 Protocol Video for First Responders

April 30, 2020

ENVS alumna Kelly Reynolds, chair of the College of Public Health Department of Community, Environment, and Policy and director of Environment, Exposure Science and Risk Assessment Center, collaborates with the Tucson Fire Department to develop a training video detailing protocols for first responders for avoiding infection during the COVID-19 outbreak.
